Compass Recovery and Joey’s Deli are working together to host a 5K run fundraiser to raise money for the Michael J. Dias Foundation at Forest Park in Springfield, Massachusetts, on May 18th, starting at 9:00 AM. This run is dedicated to helping the Michael J. Dias Foundation raise funds to open a women’s sober living home, providing essential support for women struggling with alcohol and drug addiction.
Michael J Dias Foundation (MJD Foundation) is a trusted non-profit organization in Western Massachusetts that offers a range of programs and services to support those on their journey to sobriety.
The dedicated volunteers of the Michael J. Dias Foundation are wholeheartedly committed to their mission of supporting individuals and families on the path to drug-free communities. Our core objective is to assist and educate individuals and families affected by substance use disorders. We stand firmly by those fighting the battle against addiction, working to bring about a positive change in their lives.
MJD now has three men’s sober living homes and is looking to expand its impact by opening a women’s sober home. Join us in making a meaningful difference in the lives of local women in the Pioneer Valley striving for recovery by contributing to the Michael J. Dias Foundation Capital Campaign. Your generous donations will help provide quality housing and a structured environment that empowers women in recovery to rebuild their lives, free from the grip of drugs and alcohol. Together, we can give these women a chance to reclaim their independence and vitality.
All proceeds from this fundraiser 5K event, the Whoopie Pie Waddle II, will go directly to the Michael J. Dias Foundation toward opening a women’s sober living home.

Joey’s Deli
Jon, our head chef, has over 25 years of experience in the kitchen, working in restaurants, markets, and banquets.
During the COVID-19 shutdown, Jon, like many others, found himself laid off. While getting coffee one day, he saw a “For Rent” sign in a storefront window. That moment turned his dream of owning a deli and market into a reality, and Joey’s Deli was born.
Named after his best friend and true love, Joanna (“Joey”), whom he met while marathon training, Joey’s Deli is a reflection of their shared passion for food, fitness, and community. Jon and Joey have completed numerous races together, including marathons and ultramarathons, and believe in the importance of health and nutrition. At Joey’s, we believe in supporting our local community, which is why you’ll see local representation in both the products we sell and the food we serve. Joey’s Deli is located at 1226 Springfield St, Feeding Hills, MA 01030.
